Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck By Car In Brentwood: SCPD

The man was crossing the street when he was knocked over by a car and then was hit by a second car, police say.

BRENTWOOD, NY - A pedestrian was killed after he struck by a car in Brentwood on Friday night, according to Suffolk Police.

Hector Solis, 61, of Brentwood was driving a 1997 Toyota Camry westbound on Suffolk Avenue, at the intersection of Grant Avenue, when the mirror of his car struck a man who was attempting to cross the road at 6:35 p.m.

This caused the man to fall into the eastbound lane.

Then 43-year-old Allan Broughton, of Rome, was driving a 2011 Ford Escape eastbound on Suffolk Avenue and his vehicle struck the man.

The man, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

Both drivers were not injured.

The vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
