Pedestrian Killed In Crash On Long Island

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY — A man died after he was struck by a car while crossing the street Friday morning in Central Islip, Suffolk County police said.

According to police, the man was crossing East Suffolk Avenue near Wheeler Road at about 4:35 a.m. when he was struck by a westbound 2013 Dodge minivan.

The victim was taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead; the driver of the Dodge was not injured, police said.

The Dodge was impounded for a safety check; no charges were filed, police said. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
