Ronkonkoma Man Charged In Central Islip, Brentwood Burglaries: Police

The man forced his way into two homes and a church, and had stolen items from another burglary, police said.

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY — A Ronkonkoma man was arrested Wednesday after police said he committed several burglaries in Central Islip and Brentwood.

David Roman, 61, was arrested by Third Squad detectives at the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision facility in Bohemia, following an investigation into multiple burglaries, Suffolk County police said.

Police said Roman forcibly entered a basement apartment at a residence on Calebs Path in Central Islip at about 11:50 a.m. May 28 and stole cash and jewelry.

On June 12, Roman kicked in the front door of a residence on Clayton Street in Central Islip at about 11 a.m. and stole cash, jewelry and assorted items, police said. He then entered a locked basement apartment, where he was confronted by a resident who called police, authorities said.

Police said Roman also pushed in an air conditioning unit and entered First United Methodist Church, at 53 Wheeler Road in Brentwood, at about 11:45 a.m. Tuesday. While inside, Roman damaged an interior door and gained access to a second-floor office, police said.

At the time of his arrest, Roman had multiple items reported stolen during another burglary that remains under investigation, police said.

Roman was charged with third-degree burglary, two counts of second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal trespass and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

He was held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday at First District Court in Central Islip.
