Suffolk Police Rescue 2 Dogs, 3 Chickens From Burning Home: PD
The officers kicked down the locked doors of the house to rescue the animals, police say.

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY — Several Central Islip pets are safe and sound, thanks to two Suffolk County Police officers and a Town of Islip employee.
According to police, Tim Alver, the town staffer, was replacing a stop sign at the corner of Wilson Boulevard and Sycamore Street at about 10:04 a.m. on Monday, when he noticed smoke coming from a nearby home.
Alver ran to the house and attempted to communicate with the occupants, but the doors were locked and he received no response, police said. He then flagged down a passing motorist who called 911.
