Town Demolishes Unsafe Central Islip Property
The Town Board passed a resolution in January of 2018, authorizing the demolition at 173 Gibbs Road in Central Islip.

From Central Islip: A property in Central Islip was demolished this week, after the Town's Chief Building Inspector determined the structure to be in imminent danger of collapsing.
The property suffered fire damage, years of neglect and disrepair resulting in structural failure. The home and detached garage constitute a nuisance, and present a fire, safety, and health hazard, according to the inspector.
"Houses like these aren't just an eyesore that bring down property values of responsible homeowners, but are also a health hazard in our neighborhoods," said Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter. "We are going to continue to work vigorously to eliminate the threat to the welfare of our neighborhoods that is posed by these houses," she added.
