Town Of Islip Awarded $450K Grant To Repair Brentwood Roads
Officials will be using the money to create new striped crosswalks, handicapped ramps, reflective stripping, drainage structures and more.

BRENTWOOD, NY – Officials announced on Tuesday that a $450,000 grant was awarded to the Town of Islip to make road repairs in Brentwood.
Assemblyman Phil Ramos (D-Brentwood) secured the money through the State and Municipal Facilities Program (SAM) grant which combined with Town resources, will bring total funding for local infrastructure projects to $850,000.
“Together, with the help of Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter and Town resources, we are able to make needed improvements to the Brentwood infrastructure, which will ensure motorist and pedestrian safety,” Ramos said.

The project will include two new striped crosswalks at Hale Street and at Heyward Street; the creation of two new handicapped ramps; the installation of new reflective stripping throughout the project; 12 new drainage structures to alleviate flooding issues; milling of deteriorated paving layers of asphalt off roadway, and a paving project spanning Suffolk Avenue to Expressway Drive.
“Assemblyman Ramos and I are committed to improving the infrastructure in Brentwood. His tireless efforts to secure state funds should be commended,” Carpenter said.
