Volunteers Help Weed Out Hunger At Island Harvest Giving Garden
The garden produces several fruits and vegetables for local families in need.

BRENTWOOD, NY — Several volunteers from PSEG Long Island got down and dirty in the fight against hunger by working the land at Island Harvest’s new two-acre Giving Garden in Brentwood.
"Our employees participate in hundreds of community service projects throughout the year," Jorge Jimenez, PSEG Long Island director of customer experience, said.
Island Harvest operates 37 community gardens on Long Island, mostly in local schools.

Volunteers, like Islip Terrace resident Jamie Kaiser (pictured above), take care of the garden.
The garden produces corn, tomatoes, squash, eggplant, basil and more.
"We really enjoyed being outside and helping with the weeding, raking and harvesting," Jimenez said. "Knowing we’ve done something to help alleviate hunger here on Long Island, where we all live and work, made it a very rewarding experience."
