
Eastchester High School and Middle School were adorned with red ribbons this week in celebration of “Red Ribbon” week, a nationwide drug prevention effort. Red Ribbon Week activities are encouraged by the Eastchester Communities That Care coalition.
Eastchester Eagles Sports Club parents and volunteers from the newly formed Student Athletic Council hung the ribbons.

Students wear the red ribbons to demonstrate their support for a healthy, drug free lifestyle. By wearing a Red Ribbon, Americans pay homage to DEA Special Agent Enrique Camarena who died in 1985 at the hands of drug traffickers in Mexico.
In Dorothy Salierno’s Middle School eighth grade health classes, students made morning announcements regarding “Natural High" posters that the students created. The posters are on display outside the cafeteria and have attracted many students.
