Anna Quindlen to Appear at Sarah Lawrence College for a Conversation About Midlife

The evening also marks the launch of Sarah Lawrence's new Center for Midlife and Meaning

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, novelist, and memoirist Anna Quindlen will join Sarah Lawrence College President Cristle Collins Judd for a conversation exploring the joys, challenges, and possibilities of midlife and beyond on Thursday, November 19, at 7 p.m.

Presented by the Signature Learning Community at Sarah Lawrence College, “A Conversation About Midlife” will take place on the College’s Bronxville campus and will also be streamed online. The event is free and open to the public, but advance registration is required.

The evening will also mark the launch of Sarah Lawrence’s new Center for Midlife and Meaning. The latest expression of the College’s longstanding commitment to lifelong learning, the Center will bring the liberal arts into conversation with the experiences of adults navigating periods of transition and change. With opportunities for learning, reflection, conversation, and creative discovery, the Center is intended for adults encountering the many shifts that can accompany midlife and life’s later chapters, from changing careers and children leaving home to growing caregiving responsibilities, approaching retirement, or finding renewed time for long-held interests.

Throughout her prolific career, Anna Quindlen has explored questions of identity, purpose, family, change, and fulfillment. Drawing on her works including the novels More Than Enough and Still Life with Bread Crumbs, memoirs and reflections Lots of Candles, Plenty of Cake and A Short Guide to a Happy Life, and the non-fiction call to action Write for Your Life, she will bring her characteristic wit, warmth, and insight to questions at the heart of the new Center: How do we understand ourselves as our roles and responsibilities change? What gives life meaning now? What new possibilities might emerge in the chapters still ahead?

A question-and-answer session will follow the conversation, and the evening will conclude with a reception and book signing. Select Quindlen titles will be available for purchase from Periwinkle Books in Bronxville.
