Arrested From Jail: Bronxville Detectives Arrest Already Incarcerated Career Criminal

detectives arrested a 58 year-old Bronx resident on Tuesday, who coincidentally was already behind bars and being detained at the Vernon C. Bain Correctional Facility in the Bronx, NY. 

At approximately 11:35 a.m. yesterday, Bronxville Detectives Richard Anderson and Nicholas DeYoung traveled to the facility to execute an arrest warrant for Frederick T. Nelson, 58, whose registered address is 413 East 152^nd Street in the Bronx, NY. 

Following an extensive cooperative investigation with the Village of Pleasantville Police Department, detectives were able to determine that Nelson was responsible for a burglary committed at on July 20, 2011. On that date, Nelson was caught by video surveillance entering the campus’ Bohm Hall and removing a Dell laptop computer valued at $850 from a student’s room.

Nelson, who was being held by the New York City Police Department, is being described as a “career criminal” with an extensive arrest record dating back to 1969. Since that date, he has amassed 70 arrest charges, including 43 felony charges. Nelson has been arrested 36 times during that period and has been convicted on 26 occasions, six times for a felony.

Following his arrest by Detectives Anderson and DeYoung, Nelso was transported to Bronxville, where he was arraigned by Village Justice George R. Mayer on the C-felony charge of burglary in the second degree (burglary of a dwelling). Nelson was remanded by Judge Mayer to the Bain Correctional Faility, but was first transported from Bronxville to Pleasantville where he faces a felony charge stemming from the theft of an automobile.

Nelson is due to return to the Village of Bronxville Justice Court on October 5, 2011.
