Blue Ribbon Foundation Announces Chapel School Student Winner of Scholarship

Bronxville, NY- On Sunday June 3rd, Claire Story, a student at The Chapel School was awarded the Librarian Sharon Peterson Literacy Scholarship. The honor was presented during the Baccalaureate Service at the Village Lutheran Church.
Sharon Peterson Finster joined The Chapel School family part-time in 1980 (known then by her maiden name, Sharon Osenberg), and became a full-time faculty member in the 1982-1983 school year. Over the course of her 36-year tenure with The Chapel School, Sharon built up and grown the school library into one of the finest children’s libraries in the Lutheran education system. Known by most Chapel School children as “Mrs. Peterson,” her married name from her late husband, Rev. Dr. Clifford Peterson, Sharon has been not just a librarian but an active member of the VLC and Concordia College communities, impacting many lives with her heart for Christ and community. In 2016, she retired and moved to Wisconsin.
The Librarian Sharon Peterson Literacy Scholarship Fund has been set up as a lasting legacy to her dedicated commissioned ministry among us. In celebration of her life’s work and in remembrance of the Peterson family, a scholarship will be given each year to a deserving student who excels in reading and literacy.
