Bronxville Police Quickly Apprehend Hospital Burglary Suspect

Police said the man stole a checkbook and a Ford Escape.

BRONXVILLE, NY — Less than 24 hours after a burglary was committed, the Bronxville Police Department had a Yonkers man in custody.

The department received a report that an unknown man unlawfully entered a restricted office at New York Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital around 10:53 p.m. Wednesday and stole a checkbook from a desk drawer and keys to a 2008 Ford Escape owned by the hospital, police said.

The vehicle was stolen from the hospital grounds.

A hospital employee was contacted by Chase Bank in Patchoque and was told that someone had unsuccessfully attempted to cash a check from his account.

Bronxville police were able to identify Michael Perrier, 24, using video surveillance from both the hospital and the bank.

He was located at 9 p.m. Thursday behind the wheel of the stolen Escape in a Suffolk County residential neighborhood.

Perrier was taken to Bronxville Police headquarters and was charged with third-degree burglary and two counts of fourth-degree larceny, all felonies.

He was remanded to the Westchester County Department of Corrections in Valhalla pending a court appearance Oct. 26.
