Bronxville Purse Thief Arrested: Police

Another community's police department have filed charges against the man for a similar incident.

BRONXVILLE, NY — A Bronx man faces charges in two different communities after he allegedly distracted a woman in a church to steal her purse. Bronxville Police said Anton Nrecaj, 34, of the Bronx, was arrested Friday, July 21 and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony.

On July 11, police said Nrecaj allegedly distracted a 65-year-old woman inside the Church of Saint Joseph in Bronxville in order to steal her purse. [Get Patch’s Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts here.]

Bronxville detectives use village and church surveillance cameras, Yonkers parking data and National Insurance Crime Bureau and Westchester County Intelligence Center assistance to develop leads in the case.

They were ultimately able to locate and identify Nrecaj in the Bronx July 21.

He was sent to the Westchester County Department of Correction pending his next court appearance.

Dobbs Ferry Police have also filed charges agains Nrecaj regarding a similar incident that occurred in May.
