Bronxville Students Discuss Syrian Refugee Crisis
The event was part of the annual Student Faculty Legislature Day.

Bronxville High school students took part in thought-provoking, informative discussions recently during the annual Student Faculty Legislature Day.
The subject was “Understanding the Syrian Refugee Crisis” and featured MSNBC “Morning Joe” hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough, along with a Syrian refugee.
Natalia Kaminski, president of the Legislature, said she and other Bronxville students need to become educated about global issues in order to be leaders.

“Everyone is participating in the classrooms, learning something completely new, something they’ve never heard of before, a perspective they’ve never taken into account before,” she said.
“It’s really important to have that educated background before taking a stand in the Syrian refugee crisis issue,” Kaminski said.

Speakers included United Nations Information Officer Mita Hosali and Bard College student Sana Mustafa, a Syrian refugee in asylum in the U.S.
Brzezinski and Scarborough gave a presentation on the politics of the crisis.
