Bronxville's St. Joseph School Kindergarten Prepares for Upcoming Science Fair

Students learn about density and buoyancy while watching "Dancing Raisins."

On March 12, Science came to life in Mrs. Casarella’s Kindergarten class – complete with a real scientist! Mrs. Teresa Schulenburg, who also happened to be an aunt of one of the students, visited Kindergarten and helped them conduct an experiment with raisins that taught students about density and buoyancy.

Outfitted with lab coats and goggles, the class used Sprite and raisins to show just how carbon dioxide (or ‘fizz as the class called it) helped the raisins rise from the bottom of the container to the top. The class watched in amazement as the carbonation worked its magic and caused the raisins to go up and down!

The Kindergarten class, along with the rest of the St. Joseph School, will display their research and results at the annual St. Joseph School Science Fair, which will be held on Tuesday, March 24th.
