Bronxville's Weather: Snow Estimates Rise

BRONXVILLE, NY — Well that escalated quickly. On Sunday, snow accumulation estimates for a mid-week storm in the Hudson Valley called for light snow Tuesday. A day later and the National Weather Service has put out a Winter Weather Advisories for Dutchess, Ulster, Orange, Putnam, Rockland and northern Westchester counties. So far, southern Westchester is not under an advisory.

Snow accumulation estimates are jumping — Hudson Valley Weather ahead of the pack, just as they were before the bomb cyclone, predicting 3-6 inches possible across the region. It's also possible there could be school cancellations and delays Wednesday morning.

The snow is expected to get going Tuesday, light at first but then becoming heavier.

"Motorists should be prepared for changing conditions during the Tuesday evening rush hour and Tuesday night," said AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Kristina Pydynowski.

Here's the NWS's work week forecast for southern Westchester:

• Monday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a steady temperature around 26. Wind chill values between 15 and 20. Northeast wind 5 to 8 mph.
• Tuesday: A 50 percent chance of snow, mainly after 11am. Cloudy, with a high near 34. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. Southeast wind around 6 mph.
• Tuesday Night: Snow likely. Cloudy, with a low around 30. Light and variable wind becoming north 5 to 7 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
• Wednesday: A 50 percent chance of snow, mainly before 3pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 34. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. Northwest wind 7 to 10 mph.
• Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 19. Northwest wind around 10 mph.
• Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 34.
• Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 23.
• Friday: Sunny, with a high near 37.
• Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 27.
