Gramatan Village in partnership with NY-Presbyterian Westchester presents: 'Fall Prevention: Know the Risks, Stay Safe & Build Strength'

  • Identify Fall Risks: Recognize common fall risk factors and ways to make your home safer. 
  • What to Do After a Fall: Learn how to safely get up, and when and who to call for help.
  • Improve Balance & Strength: Learn and practice simple exercises that can help improve balance and strength. 
  • Interactive Demonstrations & Q&A: An opportunity to participate, practice, and ask questions.

Speakers: Valerie McElhatton and Amy Wolkin

Valerie McElhatton is a senior physical therapist at NYPW. She has been a physical therapist for 25 years and has worked in a variety of settings including acute care, home care, pediatric school-based therapy, and youth sports.

Amy Wolkin is a senior physical therapist at NYPW. She has worked in several states including Alaska as a travel physical therapist prior to starting at NYP. Amy likes working in the outpatient physical therapy setting and treating a variety of patients including pelvic floor, orthopedic, and geriatric patients.
