Chapel School Care Bear Camp Welcomes Friendly Creatures

The Chapel School Care Bear Campers were treated to an "In House" field trip by The Nature of Things.

On Friday, June 15th, summer campers in The Chapel School Care Bear Camp were treated to an “In House” field trip by The Nature of Things. The Nature of Things is an environmental outreach program that presents quality live animal presentations to schools and centers throughout the greater Metropolitan areas in New York and Connecticut. The program originated in 1982, and provides hands-on and developmentally appropriate science education that features an inquiry-based approach to live animal exploration.

During the visit, campers learned about a variety of animals and were able to ask questions, make observations, and touch some of the animals. “The shell feels hard,” stated one camper, after touching Finnster the tortoise. “She goes to sleep in her shell,” stated another. “Her tongue is blue!” exclaimed one child, when introduced to Matilda the blue tongued skink. The campers also met Sunny the Pekin Duck. “They use their feet to swim. They have webbed toes.”

Care Bear Camp is open to children ages two through six. The camp features “In-House Field Trips” that bring fun and fascinating visitors to the campus. The Chapel School is located at 172 White Plains Road in Bronxville, New York. For more information about The Chapel School, please call 914-337-3202 or visit the website at www.thechapelschool.org.
