The Chapel School Kicks Off Partnership with Feeding Westchester

Bronxville, NY- On Friday, October 5th members of The Chapel School’s eight grade along with parent volunteers and teachers visited Feeding Westchester. The mission of Feeding Westchester is to end hunger in Westchester County. The foodbank sources and distributes food and other resources to local towns to help feed Westchester. The class of 2019 helped kick off a partnership between the two organizations, where the school will make multiple trips throughout the year.

During their time at “Feeding Westchester” the students packaged 835 packs of carrots, macaroni and cheese, sweet peas, beef ravioli and chicken noodle soup for hungry children in Westchester schools. “It was a perfect way for families and individuals to put their faith into action,” stated Rev. Dr. Robert Hartwell, Senior Pastor at Village Lutheran Church.

The Chapel School is a place where service as a way of life is promoted to all students and families. This field trip is just one occasion where Chapel puts this belief into action. Students participate in Midnight Runs, food collections for ECAP, and other projects to help those in need throughout the school year. Sharing time, talents, and treasures with people in the community and around the world distinguishes The Chapel School as a caring place where God's love is freely shared. "The Chapel School is a place where we teach service as a way of life,” stated Mr. Michael Schultz, Principal at The Chapel School. “We focus on developing compassionate, empathetic and charitable hearts and heeding a call to action to bring peace and relief to the disadvantaged and under served.”

TCS service projects are multi-faceted and tailored to provide opportunities for developmentally-appropriate participation from Preschool through 8th grade. Connections are made across the curriculum, as they touch lives in the local neighborhoods, throughout the nation and even across the globe. In 2015, TCS was honored with the inaugural “Make A Difference Award” by the Loukoumi Foundation for its active commitment to local and global service.
