A second man was taken into custody at the scene. There are no additional suspects being sought at this time. The police department is working with the Westchester District Attorney's Office on charges.

Both suspects are described as Hispanic men who live in New Rochelle.

A Glock model 23 .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun was recovered at scene. The investigation is continuing.

Yonkers police officials also thanked the law enforcement community, and the Yonkers community, for their support.

YONKERS, NY — Police called by a neighbor about a suspicious car found themselves in a gun battle Monday night in Yonkers. An officer was shot in the face and she and her partner were pinned down by gunfire.

The car was parked at Marshall Road and Ridge Drive.

The police audio, published by the Daily News, captures the chaotic scene as the wounded officer's partner radioed for an ambulance and then for backup so they could get her to it. “Can we get an armored truck or something to come get this officer out. She’s shot in the face. We’re right behind the suspect. We’re pinned down."

She was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx.

"One of our Yonkers finest was shot after responding to a call. She is in stable but serious condition. I ask that our city keeps the police officer and the Yonkers Police Department in your thoughts and prayers," Mayor Mike Spano wrote on Facebook.

Two suspects were taken into custody. One was injured apparently in the gun battle, which lasted about 10 minutes, according to the Daily News.
