Eastchester Districts Pass 2019-20 Budgets

Voters went to the polls Tuesday to decide on school budgets and board members.

BRONXVILLE, NY — Voters in the Bronxville school district approved the $49.5 million budget for the 2019-20 school year. According to unofficial results, the budget was approved 402 to 162, according to lohud.com.

The budget was 2.66 percent more than the current spending plan and the tax levy increase was 2.64 percent, which was within the state mandated tax cap.

Voters were also asked to approve a proposition to transfer to and expend from the Capital Projects Fund $1.5 million to provide additional funds for Capital Projects. It was approved, according to lohud.com.

Three candidates were vying for three seats on the board of education. They were John Bierwirth, Thomas Curran and Arleen Thomas.

EASTCHESTER, NY — Voters in the Eastchester school district approved the $87.6 million budget for the 2019-20 school year. According to unofficial results, the budget was approved 364 to 234.

The budget was 2.2 percent more than the current spending plan and the tax levy increase was 2.12 percent, which was within the state mandated tax cap.

Three candidates were vying for three seats on the board of education. They were Steven Projansky, Sally Veltidi and Cheryl Smith.


TUCKAHOE, NY — Voters in the Tuckahoe school district approved the $35.5 million budget for the 2019-20 school year. According to unofficial results, the budget was approved 530 to 227.

The budget was 4.28 percent more than the current spending plan and the tax levy increase was 2.2 percent, which was within the state mandated tax cap.

Four candidates were vying for two seats. The winners were Laura Benke and Therese Gardere. Also on the ballot were Donna Martuge and Robert Sypher.
