Eastchester Police Alerts Residents To Keep Cars Locked, Take Keys With Them

Keys should be removed from vehicles and valuable items removed, police said.

EASTCHESTER, NY — Eastchester police sent out an alert to all town residents about recent thefts from unlocked vehicles, in addition to vehicles stolen that had the keys or fobs being left in them.

Police said all residents should remove the car keys from their vehicles as well as lock their cars and remove all valuable items whenever the cars are unattended.

Targeted items include laptops, GPS units, radar detectors, brief cases, pocketbooks and loose money.

“Keep in mind that criminals are opportunists,” a spokesman said. “Take the opportunity away and decrease your chances of being victimized.
