Eastchester Police Issue Warning about Thefts from Cars

Items have been stolen from several cars parked throughout town, according to police.

A rash of larcenies from unlocked vehicles in town has prompted Eastchester police to issue a warning to residents.

“The Eastchester Police Department encourages all residents to lock their vehicles and remove all valuable items whenever the vehicles are unattended,” Detective Sgt. Anthony Mignone wrote in an email Tuesday. “Targeted items are laptops, GPS units, radar detectors, brief cases, pocketbooks, loose money, etc. Keep in mind that criminals are opportunists – take the opportunity away and decrease your chances of being victimized.”

Police did not disclose the exact number of recent thefts nor the locations, but said the incidents occurred in the north and south end.
