Eastchester Town Board Honors Grand Marshal

For years now, the Town of Eastchester has always taken the time to celebrate Italian heritage over the Columbus Day Weekend and this week, Supervisor Anthony Colavita and the Eastchester Town Board made a Special Presentation to the Grand Marshal and Honorees of the 2012 Columbus Day Parade at the Town Board Meeting.

Dick Forliano has been named the Grand Marshal and has been the Eastchester Town Historian since 1988 and is currently working on an updated history of the Town for its 350th anniversary in 2014. 

This year’s recipient of the Monsignor Anthony Maltese Humanitarian Award is Diane Luisi, who has been active in many organizations and has raised over $125,000 through the Paul Luisi Foundation for cancer research in honor of her son.

Also honored was Will Humphreys, this year’s recipient of the David R. DiRubba Community Service Award. 

Humphreys is a partner in the Eastchester location of Value Drugs and has participated in almost every community organization from sponsoring the Columbus Day Parade to discounted packs of school supplies. 

“The Committee chose exceptional honorees this year," remarked Colavita who continued that, "we are proud of them and each has contributed greatly to the betterment of our town and are deserving of such a great distinction.”

The Eastchester Columbus Day Parade will take place on Sunday Oct.7 beginning at 3:30 p.m. from Immaculate Conception Chuch and continuing up White Plains Rd. to Lake Isle Country Club.
