Farmingdale State College Student from Yonkers Fatally Struck by Car

The crash occurred Thursday night on Long Island.

A student at Farmingdale State College was killed after he was hit by a car while crossing the road in Farmingdale on Thursday night, police said.

According to authorities, Albert Perrone, 45, of Farmingdale, was driving a 2003 Saturn westbound on Melville Road, west of Route 110, when he struck a pedestrian who was trying to cross the street at 9:20 p.m.

The Farmingdale Fire Department took the student, identified as Eyyad Almargi, 24, of Yonkers, to St. Joseph Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Farmingdale State College President Dr. W. Hubert Keen and the campus gave their sympathies to the family and friends of Almargi.

Perrone was not injured from the crash.

The Saturn was impounded for a safety check as authorities continue to investigate the crash.
