Firefighters worked for three hours getting the blaze under control.

EASTCHESTER, NY — Residents of the Ardsley wing of the Garth Woods Cooperative complex in Eastchester had to be evacuated because of a fire Monday. The fire started in the bedroom of a fifth-floor apartment at 235 Garth Road.

Fire officials said the blaze, which started around 11 a.m., was fueled by clutter and piles of paper, the Journal News said.

Firefighters worked for about three hours to get the fire under control, and the man whose apartment was involved was taken to the hospital.
