Former Eastchester Doctor Accusing Of Stealing $500K+ From 97YO
He fraudulently posed as her power of attorney and took money from her accounts, police said.

EASTCHESTER, NY — A former Eastchester physician has been arrested for allegedly stealing more than a half-million dollars from an elderly Yonkers woman. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. said Wednesday Peter Corines, 69, a former doctor, was arraigned on one count of second-degree grand larceny, a felony.
He was accused of stealing more than $500,000 from a 97-year-old Yonkers woman by fraudulent means.
Scarpino said the complaint alleges that during a two-week period in November 2017, Corines stole from Bernice Judd Porter by falsely claiming to be her power of attorney or pretending to be the woman on the phone or online with numerous financial institutions where she had accounts.

Authorities said Corines, by claiming to be the woman’s power of attorney, and therefore claiming to be acting in her best interests, went into various banks and withdrew money from her accounts.
By pretending to be Judd Porter, he called various mutual funds and transferred money from her accounts.

Corines also set up online accounts from various mutual funds and transferred money from her accounts without her permission or consent.
In total, Corines stole about $540,103, the district attorney’s office said.
He was arrested by Yonkers Police April 24 after the execution of a search warrant at his Park Avenue home in Eastchester.
Corines is scheduled to be in court May 9. He was sent to Westchester County Corrections by Yonkers City Court Judge Arthur Doran.
