International Jazz Day Returns to Tuckahoe April 30th

MJ Territo Jazz Quartet Celebrates International Jazz Day at An American Bistro, Tuckahoe, April 30th, 7 pm

What does Tuckahoe, New York have in common with Paris, France; Bridgetown, Barbados; Sligo, Ireland; Modena, Italy; Capetown, South Africa; and New Orleans, LA? All these places, and hundreds more worldwide, are hosting celebrations of International Jazz Day.

On Thursday April 30, An American Bistro, welcomes back the MJ Territo Jazz Quartet for their third annual International Jazz Day concert. The quartet will perform from 7 pm to 9:30 pm, presenting a mix of jazz standards and original compositions, with MJ Territo, vocals; Victor LaGamma, piano; Lee Marvin, bass; and Jon Doty, drums.

Each year on April 30, International Jazz Day, an initiative of UNESCO, brings together communities, schools, artists, historians, academics, and jazz enthusiasts all over the world to celebrate and learn about jazz and its roots; and to recognize the importance of this international art form in promoting peace, dialogue among cultures, and freedom of expression.

“I am thrilled to be part of this exciting international celebration again,” says Territo, a Yonkers resident, “especially so close to home. And I’m grateful to An American Bistro for its continued commitment to jazz. It’s a privilege to bring America’s indigenous art form to a restaurant devoted to the fine art of American cooking.”

An American Bistro is located at 296 Columbus Avenue, Tuckahoe. Phone: 914-793-0807. www.anamericanbistro.com.
