Irene's Here: Major Flooding, Trees Down and Power Outages in Bronxville
More than four inches of rain has already fallen in portions of New York with peak wind gusts almost 60 mph. Unfortunately, the worst is still yet to come…
Update 8:40 a.m.:
A tree has been reported down on Palmer Ave, causing damage to a car. Trees are also down on Gladwin Place, Avon Road, and Prescott Ave. More than one tree has been reported down on Avon.
Flooding is heavy throughout Bronxville. The retaining wall at the Brooklands Complex on Palmer Ave has given way, and the complex is currently being flooded. Yonkers Fire Department is on scene moving people out. Garden apartments (first floor) were evavuated last night.

Original article: Just before 8 a.m., Bronxville Chief of Police Christopher Satriale is reporting widespread flooding, trees down and power outages across the Village of Bronxville. Road closures include Parkway Road, Midland Avenue and Avon Road. Reports of flooding have also come in from a number of homes in the Village.
At this time, the Eastchester Police Department is reporting no major storm-related developments. It is reported that residents in Yonkers lost power in the middle of the night for approximately five hours but the power is now back on.
Unfortunately, the worst of the storm is still to come, as AccuWeather.com predicts a significant increase in wind strength starting at 8 a.m. and peaking around 67 mph. All residents are urged to stay in their homes until further notice.
As of 5 a.m., the National Hurricane Center had Irene as a weak Category 1 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph. The storm is currently about 15 miles south-southeast of Atlantic City and moving north-northeast at 18 miles per hour.
