Joe Houlihan Participates in HGAR's First-Ever "Mr. Legs" Pageant
Helps Raise More than $17,000 for Homeowner-Friendly Political Action Committee

To say that Joe Houlihan, managing partner at Houlihan & O’Malley Real Estate Services, is willing to go the extra mile to help raise funds for a worthy cause is an understatement. Just last month, Houlihan participated in the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors (HGAR) first-ever “Mr. Legs” Pageant at the Tarrytown Music Hall. He was one of 18 participants who showed off their gams to raise funds for RPAC, the Realtors Political Action Committee. RPAC works with legislators on a local, state, and national level to protect the rights of homeowners and the real estate industry. The event drew a huge crowd of Realtors and HGAR affiliate members, who voted for their favorite pair of legs by means of dollar donations, with the grand tally resulting in $17,340 for RPAC.
While pageant participants were decked out in everything from Bermuda shorts and a tuxedo top with boxers to all-out drag, Houlihan donned a plaid kilt and red beret, a tribute to his Irish heritage. (After all, he was this year’s Grand Marshall of the Eastchester St. Patrick’s Day Parade!) Houlihan proudly traces his Irish-American roots back to the late 1800s, when his great-grandparents, Daniel Houlihan and Margaret Lynch, emigrated from County Kerry, Ireland as teenagers.
Even though Houlihan was not able to capture the “Mr. Legs 2015” title, he did receive an honorary blue sash and the satisfaction of knowing he had helped a good cause. “It was such a fun and exciting night for a great cause. I’m hoping I can participate in the pageant again next year, and help raise even more funds,” says Houlihan.

According to Drew Kessler, HGAR president, “This event was a huge success thanks to all those who participated in the pageant and to all of our generous contributors. It took a lot of work and a lot of guys with a great sense of humor. The bottom line is that the money raised will continue to support home ownership and such essential matters as preserving the mortgage interest deductions and STAR tax reductions.”
