Bronxville's Mary Cain has set yet another record: she is the youngest U.S. athlete to make a world championship team.
MaxPreps.com reported that she got the spot on the USA track team with a second-place finish at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Iowa June 22.
FloTrack.org, reporting from the 2013 Portland Track Festival in early June, pointed out that Cain, entering her senior year at BHS, now holds all high school records from 800m to 5k.

Team USA competes in the World Championships in Russia in August.
“This is the greatest country in the world. We’d been talking about it and I just really wanted to get a uniform, that’d be so exciting," Cain told the media folks at USA Track and Field, the governing body of the sport. On her season so far, she said: “I’ve got the ‘A’ standard and, no matter what, no one can take that away from me. I was the first girl under 2 minutes. No one can take that away from me.”
