The Lansdowne Bhoys Football Club recently recognized Paul Tuffy, accountant and owner of the Yonkers-based Tuffy & Associates, for his efforts in gaining non-profit status for the soccer club, which is based in the Bronx.

Mr. Tuffy, a native of County Sligo, was commended for “championing” the club’s application and for using his extensive knowledge of IRS regulations to help them gain the new status.

Last month, he received a plaque for his efforts during the club’s annual awards dinner dance, which was held in The Rambling House, a popular Irish bar, restaurant and catering hall in the Bronx.

The dinner dance journal further commended Tuffy, who is a well-known businessman in the heavily Irish section of Yonkers.

“It is an understatement to say that without his input and drive behind this idea, it would not have happened,” said the club’s president, William McGrory.

The club has been involved in New York City’s Cosmopolitan Men’s Soccer League since 1997, with entry to the league’s premier section in 2002. It was recently announced the winner of the Cosmopolitan premier league for the second year in a row, a remarkable achievement for the club and its members, said McGrory. Its reserve team also won in its division this year.
