Mount Vernon Man Charged in Fatal Yonkers Crash
Elouise Spears, 44, of the Bronx, was killed Monday on the Cross County Parkway.

Mount Vernon resident Hasani Ewan, 38, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of Driving While Intoxicated in connection with a fatal crash on the Cross County Parkway in Yonkers Monday that killed Bronx resident Elouise Spears, 44.
Ewan was arrested by Westchester County Police and was arraigned on the misdemeanor charge at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, where he was admitted following the one-car accident that occurred at 1:41 a.m.
The investigation into the accident is continuing and upgraded charges are possible.

According to county police, Ewan was driving eastbound on the Cross County Parkway when his 2001 Honda Accord left the roadway and struck a bridge abutment to the Seminary Avenue pedestrian bridge. Spears, who was a passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ewan is scheduled to appear in Yonkers City Court on Sept. 16.
