Oxana Mikhailoff performs piano recital

Oxana Mikhailoff performs a recital entitled "Fantasies Through the Years" on the next Midland Music program

“Fantasies Through the Years” is the theme for the Saturday, April 16, concert on the Midland Music Series, beginning at 7:30 pm, at the Bronxville Women’s Club, 135 Midland Avenue, Bronxville. Pianist Oxana Mikhailoff will perform fantasies by Mozart, Schubert, and Schumann. Tickets will be available at the door; there is a discount for tickets reserved before the concert. BWC members: $15/$18; General public: $20/$25; Seniors: $18/$22. Students: $5. If concertgoers wish, they may enjoy dinner at the BWC before the concert, at 6 pm. Oxana Mikhailoff is a concert pianist who also maintains an active teaching schedule. Recognized by Martha Argerich as an extraordinary talent, Ms. Mikhailoff has developed a vast repertoire extending from Baroque to modern day composers including solo works, chamber music and 29 piano concertos. This Russian-born American pianist was honored with the Second Prize at the Martha Argerich International Piano Competition in August 2003, her eleventh international competition prize. Ms. Mikhailoff graduated from the Manhattan School of Music in 2003 with a Master of Music degree, receiving the prestigious Harold Bauer Award, an honor bestowed upon the most promising talent of that institution. Ms. Mikhailoff also holds a B.A. from the Moscow Conservatory of Music and is on the faculty of the Crestwood Music School in Eastchester.

Ms. Mikhailoff pursued an active performing career throughout Russia and Europe as a recitalist, concert soloist and chamber musician. Her United States debut took place at Carnegie Hall in 1999. She later returned there to play an all Chopin recital on the 150th anniversary of the composer's death. More recently, Ms. Mikhailoff performed Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto in Teatro Colon. She has also performed in three seasons with the Greenwich Symphony under Maestro David Gilbert; in each instance she received the highest critical acclaim.
