Pair Rescued after Truck Drives Off Saw Mill River Parkway
The pickup ended up plunging into the river in Yonkers.

Two people were pulled out of a pickup truck that plunged into the Saw Mill River in Yonkers Sunday evening, but neither were seriously injured.
Yonkers Fire Capt. Robert Smith, who was off-duty at the time but saw the crash near Executive Boulevard, helped rescue the pair from the truck, reports News 12 Westchester.
“He used a rock and his experience to remove the windshield,” Yonkers Deputy Chief Thomas F. Fitzpatrick Jr. told The Journal News. “Captain Smith assisted the man and then removed and carried the woman to the safety of the riverbank.”
