Pedestrian, 19, Identified in Fatal Sprain Brook Parkway Collision

The incident occurred in Yonkers late Tuesday night.

Nineteen-year-old Lorenzo J. Gallardo-Vligen of Beekman, NY, has been identified by state police as the pedestrian who was killed late Tuesday night on the Sprain Brook Parkway in Yonkers.

The collision occurred at about 11:50 p.m. when a 2005 Pontiac, driven by 30-year-old Terrell L. Smith, of White Plains, struck Gallardo-Vligen who was standing in the roadway, according to state police.

Smith was traveling northbound when he saw a vehicle on the shoulder of the road “that had been involved in a two-car property damage collision moments earlier. A passenger involved in the previous collision was standing in roadway and Smith was unable to avoid striking him,” state police said.

Gallardo-Vligen was transported to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, where he was pronounced dead.

Smith also was also transported to the same hospital, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation into the crash is on-going.
