
A man was struck and killed by a vehicle on the Bronx River Parkway in Yonkers early Thursday morning, according to Westchester County Police.
Details of the incident were not immediately available, but The Journal News reports that the fatality occurred near Mile Square Road as the man was trying to cross the thruway at about 6:30 a.m.
County Police spokesperson Kieran O’Leary told Patch that the victim’s identity has not yet been released.

“Not sure why the man was trying to cross [there],” O’Leary said, adding that the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene.
Two lanes southbound were temporarily closed while county police investigated.
