Updated: Man Struck and Killed by Train at Crestwood Station

Eyewitnesses say the man was sitting on the tracks when the train pulled into the station.

A train at the Crestwood Station struck and killed a man at 12:21 p.m. this afternoon.

MTA spokesperson Margie Anders confirmed that eyewitnesses said the man was sitting on the tracks when the train pulled into the station. The man's identity has yet to be released.

The train was a southbound express due into Grand Central at 12:38 p.m. After the train's conductor performed an emergency stop, four cars were left against the platform, allowing passengers to get off and board another train from White Plains.

The station was shut down for approximately 20 minutes after the incident. Trains are now running, but one platform is still closed to commuters.
