Police Investigating Human Remains Found In Hudson Valley

Police initially responded to the scene for a report of a suspicious duffle bag left in the area.

Police in Yonkers are investigating a bag that contained apparent human remains Monday. Around 12:04 p.m. Nov. 19, members of the Yonkers Police Department responded to the Wells Fargo Bank branch at 500 Odell Ave. for a report of a suspicious duffle bag left in the area.

On arrival, members of the Emergency Service Unit located the bag on the west side of the building next to a garbage dumpster.

Officers tested the air quality for the presence of a possible explosive device, but got a negative result.

They began to inspect the contents of the bag when it was discovered it contained human remains.

The area was cordoned off, and a criminal investigation was begun.

Detectives from the Major Case Unit and and Crime Scene Unit began interviewing subjects and witnesses, canvassing for surveillance vide and processing forensic evidence.

Yonkers police said they will work with the Westchester County Medical Examiner's Office to determine the identity of the victim, cause of death and possible location of occurrence.
