Prison Sentence For Assault Of County Correction Officer

Police said he refused to comply with orders and proceeded to fight the officer.

A Yonkers man will be going to prison for assaulting a Westchester County correction officer in the county jail. Westchester DA Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. said Thursday Paul Overton, 36, of Yonkers, was convicted in January by a jury of second-degree assault, a felony.

Overton will serve five years in state prison followed by five years post-release supervision.

Police said, on July 19, 2017, Overton assaulted a correction officer at the Westchester County Jail.

After failing to comply with numerous lawful orders, he intentionally caused injury to the officer by punching, biting and struggling with him.
