Reward Increased For Info About Murder Suspect: PD
Police said they believe Jamir Thompson is in hiding and receiving assistance from third parties.
YONKERS, NY — The Yonkers Police Department has increased the reward for information leading to the arrest of murder suspect Jamir Thompson, 15, of Yonkers. The reward is now $10,000 — up from $5,000.
Thompson is wanted in connection with the shooting of Marilyn Cotto Montanez, 18, of Yonkers, and is believed to be in hiding and receiving assistance from third parties, the police said.
Anyone who knowingly assists or harbors Thompson will be arrested, police said, and charged with first-degree hindering prosecution, a felony.

Police said, on April 25, Thompson had taken a gold chain by force from another person; that person and Thompson along with others later engaged in a dispute in the area of Lake Avenue at Morningside Avenue, where Thompson displayed a handgun and fired at least one shot in the direction of the other group.
That shot struck Cotto Montanez, according to authorities. She was an unintended target and innocent victim. A 9mm cartridge casing was recovered from scene, police said.
