Memorial, Funeral Held for Slain Iona College Student

The Yonkers resident was killed in Lincoln Park in New Rochelle after a party.

The young Iona College student shot and killed in a New Rochelle park was remembered by family and friends Friday.

The candle-lit memorial for Brandon Lawrence was held at the Yonkers Central Church of God, according to FIOS1News.com.

Lawrence’s funeral was held Saturday morning at the same church, News12.com said.

Stivenson Desir, 19, of New Rochelle was charged with second-degree murder and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, felonies.

Police said Desir and Lawrence were at a party in off-campus housing used by Iona College.

After the party, police said five men, including Lawrence and Desir, went to Lincoln Park were a pre-arranged fist fight between two of the group took place.

While watching, police alleged Desir pulled out a handgun and shot Lawrence, striking him once in the torso.

Friends of Lawrence's family established a GoFundMe account to help offset funeral expenses.
