Sarah Lawrence College Offers New Creative Writing Workshop
"The Art of Losing: Writing Against Disaster" begins on June12, 2016

A creative writing workshop called “The Art of Losing: Writing Against Disaster” will be conducted by Cate Marvin at The Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville beginning on Sunday, June 12, 2016.
The program is intended for adults willing to take creative and intellectual risks and to cross disciplinary boundaries in their writing.
Instructor Marvin points out, “Together, we will explore what it means to communicate the complicated experience that is being alive today.”

Classes and workshop sessions will be held every day from June 12 through June 19, 2016.The tuition fee is $600, the application cost is $50, and an optional full meal plan is available at $400. A deposit of $250 is due on acceptance. Housing is available if needed.
Marvin received a Kathryn A. Morton Prize for her book "World’s Tallest Disaster" in 2000 which was published by Sarabande Books in 2001. Her second book of poems, called "Fragment of the Head of a Queen," won a Whiting award and was published by Sarabande in 2007. "Oracle," her third book of poems, was released by W.W. Norton & Co. in March, 2015.

She is a graduate of Marlboro College, the University of Houston, and the University of Iowa, and she earned a Ph. D. degree at the University of Cincinnati.
