Sprain Ridge Pool Reopens For 2019 Summer Season
All county beaches and pools are now on summer schedules.

After extensive repairs and the building of a new on-site playground, the Sprain Ridge Park activity pool is open for the 2019 season. As of Friday, June 28, the Sprain Ridge activity pool and spray deck, as well as the other county pools and beaches, are open on a full summer schedule.
"The most important thing for us was to make sure that these pools were constructed carefully and correctly," said County Executive George Latimer.
"As disappointed as we were to close the activity pool last season, we are thrilled to finally open it again to children and families to enjoy this summer," he said.

A new playground also replaced a more-than-20-year-old playground and is located adjacent to the reserved picnic area.
Officials said the playground features a poured-in-place rubber safety surface that feels "bouncy" under foot, instead of an old-fashioned wood-chip safety surface.

There is also a colorful slide and two separate jungle gyms for different age groups.
The playgrounds meet ADA accessibility and consumer product safety codes.
The Sprain Ridge bathhouse was renovated with a new floor featuring a slip-resistant surface and a coating that makes it easier to keep clean.
A new walkway has also been paved between the bathhouse and the playground/reserved picnic area.
Last summer, the county Department of Public Works determined that the Sprain Ridge activity pool was not structurally sound and was closed.
