State Police Investigating Hit-and-Run in Eastchester

The accident occurred August 21 and the investigation was turned over to the state accident reconstruction unit August 25.

EASTCHESTER, NY — State Police continue to investigate a hit-and-run accident that injured a pedestrian.

On Sunday, August 21, around 9:30 p.m., a car hit a pedestrian on White Plains Post Road (State Route 22) in Eastchester and left the scene.

Eastchester police requested the assistance of the State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit and turned over the investigation August 25.

The reconstruction unit found that a dark-colored pickup truck was traveling northbound when an elderly woman entered the roadway to cross the street to the east.

The driver of the truck hit her and fled the scene at a high rate of speed.

Irene Macchia was taken to Westchester Medical Trauma Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Hawthorne is asking that anyone who may have witnessed the crash contact investigators by calling 914-769-2600. All call can remain confidential.
