Sunday Series: Relief on Hot Summer Nights

A look through the lens of Bronxville-based photographer Jay Wilson.

Welcome to Sunday Series, a photographic look at Bronxville, Tuckahoe and Eastchester through the lens of Bronxville-based photographer Jay Wilson. Every week, we'll post a new photo, taken by Wilson, depicting life in the three communities.

August 1: I've lived in Bronxville for nearly three years, and somehow had never stepped foot inside the Haagen Dazs ice cream shop on Park Place until recently. This is especially odd given that I absolutely love ice cream. I mean, really love it. As in, eat-a-pint-of-Ben-and-Jerry's-a-night love it. I even worked at a Baskin Robbins one semester in college....so perhaps that my loyalties are elsewhere?

But the shop is certainly popular, especially on summer nights as teenagers and parents with young kids roam the streets of Bronxville.  This scene struck me as Hopper-esque in some fashion--a glimpse out of the dark into a cool, inviting, and bustling scene just beyond the windows, just through the door.
