Suspect With Fake NYPD Detective Shield Arrested On Impersonating Police Officer, Weapons Charges: WCPD

The NYC man had a loaded gun, police radio, high-capacity magazines and ballistic vests, when nabbed in Bronxville, Westchester police said.

BRONXVILLE, NY — A "poser" was "pinched by the real deal," according to police.

The Westchester County Police Department says that 26-year-old Dylan Gonzalez, of Manhattan, is facing felony impersonation and gun possession charges after an investigation by the Westchester County Police Real Time Crime Center, the FBI Westchester Safe Streets Task Force, the FBI-NYPD Violent Threat Initiative, and the NYPD Gun Violence Suppression Division.

On Friday, officers arrested Gonzalez in Bronxville after finding that he was impersonating a police officer while in possession of a fake NYPD detective shield, a loaded firearm, an NYPD-issued radio, high-capacity magazines, ballistic vests, and other law enforcement items. (WCPD)

The Westchester County Police Narcotics Unit and the NYPD Internal Affairs Bureau assisted with the follow-up investigation.

Gonzalez was charged with felony second-degree criminal possession of a weapon; and felony first-degree criminal impersonation.

He was arraigned in the Village of Bronxville Justice Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of bail.
