Three Chapel School Students Chosen to Receive Loukoumi Make a Difference Foundation Awards

bronxville, NY- The Loukoumi Make A Difference Foundation is proud to present a Make A Difference Award to Chapel School students Austin Lawless and Daniel Rentel at the Loukoumi Dance Party and Make A Difference Awards on June 15th for their work with RED.

“I would like to congratulate Austin Lawless, Daniel Rentel and Will Tinson as the Loukoumi Foundation would like to present each of you (at the recommendation of Principal Michael Schultz), with our Loukoumi Foundation Make A Difference Award at our annual event in June,” stated Mr. Nick Katsoris, President of The Loukoumi Make A Difference Foundation. The foundation is "a 501(c)3 teaching children to make a difference in their lives and the lives of others!"

The dynamic duo of Austin Lawless and Daniel Rentel raised $1,100 for the (Red) Campaign. Red is a charity that was founded to stop Aids and HIV. It raises money by teaming up with large corporations and uses the money for research & development to find a cure for Aids. They sold non-uniform day coupons for $2 each throughout the month of January. They also contacted (Red) HQ in NYC & asked for merchandise to raffle off at a middle school dance and raised additional funds by having a cover charge of $10 to get into the dance. They sold Red-Themed snacks & drinks & also Red-Themed merchandise and found a DJ to donate their time.

“Their good deed projects this year are perfect examples for other students to follow and we are very proud to recognize their efforts.”

Will Tinson’s service project focused on FARE (Food Allergy Research & Education). He held an allergy safe bake sale, had October chapel offerings and proceeds from the October 14 Heroes Walk at Glen Island in New Rochelle, Will raised Allergy Awareness and $2,436.38 for FARE.

"Honestly, the effort and passion demonstrated by these young people exceeded even our highest expectations. I am so proud of all of our students and the servant leadership work we are doing here at The Chapel School," reflected TCS Principal Michael Schultz.

At the event the foundation will also announce the winners of their Loukoumi Dream day contest, an annual contest where they make kids' career dreams come true. Past winners have played football with the NY Giants (this was also a Chapel School student), cooked with celebrity chefs at Disney World, watched a spaceship land on Mars, sang on Broadway, danced at the American Ballet Theatre with Misty Copeland and swam with members of the US Olympic team, to name a few.
