Tuckahoe District Moves Vote On Property Purchase

TUCKAHOE, NY — The Tuckahoe Union Free School District has rescheduled the vote on whether to purchase the property at 110 Ridge St. in Eastchester.

The new vote will be Tuesday, May 16, 2017, the same day as the annual budget vote and trustee election. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

A major snowstorm that hit the Hudson Valley forced the cancellation of the original vote March 14, 2017.

According to information on the district website, the property, which is located on the corner of Ridge Street and Siwanoy Boulevard, is directly across from the William E. Cottle School.

Purchasing the property will allow the district to relocate its administrative offices from the middle/high school building.

That will free up approximately 2,600 square feet for instructional space.

School officials said the purchase price of $662,000 will come out of the district’s existing undesignated fund balance.

Up to an additional $18,000 — again from the fund balance — could be used to for costs related to the purchase, such as closing costs, insurance and legal fees.
