Often times, writers take advantage of their abilities to create alternate realities, mixing real-life people and places with a scewed version of how things could have been and in the case of Columbus Avenue Boys, Tuckahoe native David Carraturo's sophomore novel, the husband and father of three brilliantly ties two worlds together, all within the village of Tuckahoe, NY.
"This book is the prequel to my first novel Cameron Nation: Going All-In to Save His Country and takes place over a large span of time from the 1890s to the 1980s," remarked Carraturo who added that this book is a tribute to his Mother who was, in Carraturo's words, "my window into my family history," as she explained to him over the years both his Irish and Italian ancestry.

"I wanted to create this alternate world where people in the book are people who in theory could have lived in and past through Tuckahoe," he continued.

In Carraturo's most recent work, Columbus Avenue Boys, the novel's main characters are some of the same from Cameron Nation, with Chris Cameron, Salvatore Esposito and Anthony Albanese, making up what's known as Columbus Avenue Boys; which chronicles the Scalamarri family tree throughout the twentieth century and presents a historical perspective of the life and struggles of an Italian immigrant family as well as that of America's organized crime.
"This book was actually very therapeutic for me, allowing me to work through real-life issues, just like with Cameron Nation," reflected Carraturo whose day job finds him working for a Brokerage Firm in Manhattan.
From the time he began the first page, Carraturo says it only took him about nine months to write the novel, with another six months of editing added on and he is quick to point out that the novel truly feels as if it is a part of him and something very unique and authentic.
"This story is a walk through time with areas that touch on the Depression Era, Baby Boomers, World War II, Watergate and all through the eyes of these Columbus Avenue Boys in Tuckahoe," added Carraturo.
